TeX Gyre and Latin Modern
The e-foundry, that is GUST's font team with Bogusław Jackowski, Janusz M. Nowacki, Piotr Strzelczyk and Marcin Woliński has recently released new versions of the Latin Modern and TeX Gyre font families:
- September 16, 2009—versions 2.003 of both families
- October 8, 2009—versions 2.004
The canonical location on our portal has the newest, 2.004, versions. Older versions are not oficially available. CTAN should have them any time soon, and of course TeX Live 2009 will have them as well. Inquisitive readers are advised to read the history files—they list all the gory details.
It is worth to notice the major version number change form 1 to 2. The main reason for the jump for the TeX Gyre family is URW++'s dedicion to issue an additional license for the base 35 PostScript fies as distributed with Ghostscript 4.00—we have noted it in one of our recent news items. For Latin Modern the major version jump is justified by incorporating into it the recent batch of Computer Modern modifications by Prof. Donald E. Knuth.
Have fun!
