The BachoTeX conferences throughout their history (since 1993) are being organized at the Nicholas Copernicus University holiday retreat (site plan) on the Bachotek lake, close to the town of Brodnica. Bachotek is part of the Brodnica Scenic Park, renown for its many beautiful lakes and forests which are full of many rare and protected species of plants and fauna, including about 130 species of nesting birds.

The lake provides many leisure facilities—such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, walking around the lake or walking along the Drwęca River. The Bachotek lake in numbers: area—211.0 ha, capacity—15,400 thousands m3, max. length—4,115 m, max. width—900 m, max. depth—24.3 m,  mean depth—7.2 m.

Accommodation is in two-room wooden huts (see the photo to the right)—two or three beds on the first floor and two beds on the second floor. Some cottages have two two-bed rooms on the ground level. The huts have bathroom facilities and are equipped with electrical heaters.
